New Bee Colonies
We spent Saturday installing 19 new bee colonies. By the time I was done there was literally a cloud of bees in the air and an intense buzzing sound all around me. By 7:30 that evening the bee yard was almost silent. How all those bees know which hive to call home, I have no idea. By Sunday I could see the forage bees coming in with yellow pollen and the feeders were half empty. With a little more warm weather they should be able to start feeding on the spring blossoms. We have lilac, apple, cherry and dogwood all around the farm which will give them a good start. By Fall we may have some honey to harvest!
