Bourbon Barrel Aged Pure Maple Syrup

During the spring syrup harvest we are constantly tasting our fresh syrup to see if it has a specific flavor profile that is well suited for barrel aging (we are looking for notes of caramel). After the syrup has been deemed worthy of aging we procure freshly emptied white oak bourbon casks and age our pure maple syrup for 6-8 months to ensure a full bodied bourbon infusion.

- add a spoonful to coffee or tea
- drizzle over fresh apple pie
- enjoy on sharp cheddar or havarti
- experiment with pork or chicken on the grill
- spoon over vanilla ice cream

Delicious products and prompt friendly service!
The Cinnamon Vanilla syrup from Old State Farms is our favorite. It is delicious on pancakes, waffles and pain perdu. My husband isn't happy if we don't have a bottle on hand. We like it so much that I order extra for family, friends, and coworkers.
Wow! Perfect for bourbon lovers... So delicious!! I found these Old State Farms maple syrup in a market North of Pittsburgh. I was fascinated by the barrel aged concept and picked up a bottle of Rum Barrel and a bottle of Bourbon Barrel maple syrup. The rum one was good, and the bourbon one is WOW! It is definitely my favorite. It is sweet but not over powering with sweetness. The syrup has the perfect consistency... Not too runny and not too thick. I made some pancakes to eat this with, and instead of using a fork and knife, eating the pancake properly, I ended up rolling the pancake up and dipping it into the syrup. I don't drink alcohol but really enjoy some of the alcoholic beverages without the alcohol in food items. This bourbon syrup made my list of food products that I will get again. I gave the rest of the bourbon maple syrup to one of my bosses to try, and you should have seen his face when he tasted the bourbon syrup. It lit up. He really likes it. I'm going to get some to give away for Christmas.

Tried the Bourbon barrel out of curiosity and discovered a great new idea. Not radically different than their "regular" syrup but just enough to make your taste buds say, "Hey, this is something special!" As they used to say in the 60's (or was it the 70's?), "Try it -- you'll like it!"
